Between sky and earth
Water falls; into light

While colour plays
          (red tussock
           butter yellow grasslands
           trees dripping lime lichen)
                                 and birds flirt


Melissa’s work is sense-based. Marks become an index of the memory of a place. Place and person become intertwined, as Melissa allows the world to flow through her: direct, experiential, and body-based, with the aim of evoking feelings akin to the beauty of being in nature (peace, connectedness and the sensual pleasure of being). A deep ecology of self and nature. 

Melissa draws in pencil, conte and ink on paper. Like water, her work ebbs and flows, with splashes of vibrant colour.
